Pressure Washing vs. Soft Washing: Which Does My Driveway Need?
Pressure washing and soft washing sound similar, but they're different tools for different jobs — and using the wrong one can damage your property.
Pressure washing uses high-pressure water to blast dirt, algae, and stains off hard, durable surfaces. It's the right call for concrete driveways, sidewalks, patios, and commercial pads — the surfaces that make up most of our work around Seminole and Shawnee.
Soft washing uses low pressure — not much more than a garden hose — combined with cleaning solutions that kill algae, mold, and mildew at the root. It's the right call for siding, roofs, painted surfaces, and older or softer materials that high pressure would scar.
A quick rule of thumb: if it's hard as a rock (concrete, brick pavers, stone), pressure washing is usually safe. If it can dent, splinter, or peel (vinyl siding, wood decking, shingles), soft washing is the safer play. Decks sit in the middle — they can be pressure washed, but only with controlled pressure and the right technique.
